This started with a phone call..... it was from Vinit Allen of San Anselmo California (94960).

He has a 6th Generation Video iPod also known as a classic. In mid-Novemeber in Northern Cali there were some rain storms and he got caught in one that exposed his iPod to rain. Since then it had stopped working.

This is a model that I can make work post liquid immersion in 14 out of 15 cases. I sent him send it in instructions and he put the iPod aside for another two weeks before sending it to me with my $40 labor rate.

The package arrived and there was no last name on it *or* in it. I had to look through sent emails to try to figure out who it belonged to and then hit him by email to affirm who it had to be sent back to.

As is common with this particular model, I was able to get it working perfectly *with* all of the files still safely on the drive without replacing any parts and the total cost to get his iPod back working proved to be just $40

He got it back in the mail on a Saturday morning. While having my Saturday am coffee I got this email from him,

"Congrats on getting my iPod working! Vinit"

The total cost was $40.

I got a phone call from Bob Berger who lives locally in Sebastopol California (95472) about his 4th Gen Black and White iPod.

He has a 40GB version which is the same model I used to use for running. I listen to vocal trance music while I run. The 128 BPM music is perfect for establishing a pace to run. I do 4 mile runs and average 7:20 a mile unless I am wearing my Newtin Running shoes which bring my per time down to 7:03

Bob's hard drive failed which would be about right since the iPod was now 7 years old and the drive was intended to last just 3 years.

He brought it to me and I replaced the 40Gb drive with a new one and sent him happily on his way.

He picked it up on the 9th of the month. Two weeks later at quarter of 3 I got a phone call from Bob. He actually stopped what he was doing to call me again and thank me for the job I had done. It was working perfectly and appreciated having the iPod back in his life again.

The total cost to bring it back to complete usefulness was $92
