I got a phone call from the "Animal Hospital of Cloverdale" but my answering machine at that moment wasn't set to pick up calls, so it went un-answered.
I called the number back and introduced myself and my work, then asked if I could help who had just called me.
The person went through looking to see who it was and then I got voice of the caller on the phone. She had been looking for a place to have the screen replaced on the owner's iPad 3. I told her what it would cost, $128 and that i needed the device for 2 hours to effect the repair. She told the owner and he called me back.
That call from Ed Bierly, the owner and vet at the hospital set up a time when he would drop it off later that day as he ran a couple of necessary errands around town here.
He came by when it was finished, total cost was $128
Reggie Smith has an auto dismantling business and lives here in Santa Rosa California (95402).
He also lists the parts he has for sale on eBay and uses his phone to take eBay Buy-it-Now orders and check PayPal payments arriving through the day. His phone is really the hub of all of his business communication.
I happen to know his son Tyler because through my repair work because Tyler is who refer jail-breaking and unlocking requests to. He's a clever guy that is on the JC football team.... and seems to be settling down in life.
Reggie and I first met when he was in teenager that used to shop for BMX bicycle parts at bike store here in Santa Rosa that owned for years.
I've helped Reggie with his iPhone before, back then was a smashed screen. It seems that Reggie dropped his iPhone 4S in a sink of water. He remembered that I have a talent for making these things work again post-immersion.
In his case he lives and dies by his phone so having it not working for just an hour can have sizable economic implications. when he showed up, he was basically prepared to sit and wit while i did the surgery. I explained that I usually need 5 hours to properly go through a phone, but would shift everything and to come back in two hours.
He actually got here 2 hours and 15 minutes later. I had the phone working again perfectly including WiFi the home key (which had other problems per-immersion) and a sticky power button.
Total cost to basically get his business back and running again.... $60
