This case started with personal introduction from a previous customer, Mike Wambold.

He called and left a message about an iPad 2 repair for a friend and co-worker. Mike works for the County of Sonoma in their IT department. I repaired the iPad 2 assigned to him for work about 6 weeks earlier and he left a voice message wanting to know if I had the time and parts to help colleague Hector Velasquez. I replied by both email and voice, leaving a voice mail message explaining the cost was still $108 and I needed the iPad for 2 hours to perform the miracle. Before:

He copied Hector into the conversation and they both stopped by on Friday at noon to say "Hi" and drop it off. (It helps that I work about 4 blocks from the County Admin Center.) A couple of the corners were banged up, i fact the tow most likely to be damaged in a drop are the top right and top left corners. These both had metal deformation that would not let the new glass lay flat and adhere to the back plate. The only correct way to manage this problem is to grind away metal so what remains is flat so the new flame tempered glass piece won't be under stress. Top Left before and after:

Top right before and after:

At quarter past 2pm I sent an email telling it was ready and he showed up at 2:30 for it.

Works perfectly, looks good... I did have to grind away part of the backplate but its case covers that. Total cost $108
