We actually used the phone set the time for her to come by the next afternoon. The iPad was here for two hours while it was expertly repaired :)
The first shot shows her damaged iPad. Notice the top right corner, that is the most common point of impact. In the three of the corners the aluminum backplate was damaged so much that merely putting in a new piece of glass would not have yielded a good result. They were folded up and the new piece wouldn't stay in place without correcting the metal work.
I used a small rotary grinder to take down the high spots and level a level glass bed.
Total cost was $108
