Larry Hicks called me from Petaluma California (94952) about an iPod Touch 16GB 2nd gen.
It had been dropped in the toilet about 8 weeks earlier and they did all the typical and non-eventful things. Putting it in rice figured prominently there and that didn't make a difference.
I had it here for three days and painstakingly went through it and got all of it working again including the WiFi.. It had one part that needed to be replaced which was the On/Off-volume wire harness/switch set.
The part was $18 and the labor aspect was $60. Both Larry and I were thrilled. This was actually one that continually looked as though I couldn't save it.
Total cost to get it working $78.
Paul Gagnon is a Staff Sergeant for the US Army and is stationed in the recruiting office. He lives in Napa California (94558) and sent me an email that read,
"Sir,
I have a 16 gb 2nd gen iPod touch with a faulty headphone jack, I work in Petaluma and I would like to know the best time to bring it by for a possible repair. Thank you for your assistance.

We set up a time and he brought it by and left it off. This particular job take a steady hand. It requires a high temperature soldering iron that has to hit 910 degrees and not cripple or singe anything near it. I only do this work mid-morning when my attention and mind is at its crispest.
The next morning, I worked through it and it was ready he came by later in the afternoon.
Total cost to get back good stereo hearing was $79
