Jeff Putnam called me from San Jose, California
one day to discuss the problems he was having with his 5th Gen video iPod. The primary problem was his failed hard drive. He wasn't sure what it was so I diagnosed it with him on the phone. He had a failed hard drive. We then on to discuss battery life in an iPod and realized he needed another battery.

He sent it in from San Jose several weeks later. I replaced the parts checked it all out and sent it back.

The 30GB drive was $60, the battery was $23 and labor/return shipping was $40.

Fixed - Total cost..$123.
Stacy Butterworth (married name... she used to be Stacy Perkins) called from Irvine, California
(My uncle Francis Crinella teaches in the Psychology Department at University California Irvine). She said that her 5th Gen video iPod needed a new scroll wheel.

Her compass point buttons were working but the scroll wasn't. Just once has someone described this need and been right. In 299 out 300 cases the scroll wheel and the compass point switches go out at the time. This is always the result of water damage to the logic board and necessitates logic board replacement.

However, in her case replacing the scroll only made the difference.

The scroll wheel was $22 and Labor/return shipping was $40

She emailed when she got her iPod back:
    "Dear Frank,

You worked a miracle for me!

I am pimping you out to everyone I know, FO'SHO!

I really appreciate your sense of urgency and your ability to diagnose the problem, and then FIX IT!

You obviously know what you are doing, = and you have great integrity.  Thank you very much for giving my music world back to me (and at such a great price, too)!

    You are the greatest!!!

Chris Kaylor sent in his Nano 3rd Generation from Porterville, California.
It was another water immersion victim.

I was able to clean things up and get it working again. Total cost $40

Fixed - Total cost..$40.
