Daniel Merken sent in two iPods from Olympia, Washington
both 5th Generation video iPods. Each had different problems. One had a problem with
data connectivity... seemingly... but I was able to get to operate properly, yet it did need a battery.
The other iPod I had repaired before but now had a completely failed logic
board. It would not even fluoresce an LCD because the power circuits had
been killed off. The cause for this probably is that you used it with a
docking station or car adapter. Read more about these here:

He thought it may have been his car adapter that killed the logic board.
iPod 1 was $23 for the battery and $40.
iPod 2 was $90 for the logic board and $40 labor return shipping.
Fixed - Total cost $63 & $130.

Margo Sunderland's son Zack called me from Weslaco, Texas.
I've seen Zack's iPods before. Previously Margo sent them in for water exposure along with cash to pay my fee. You may remember her husband was astonished that she would pay for shipping and send a fairly expensive device along with cash to get it repaired. He was convinced she wouldn't get the cash or the device back repaired and mentioned it to her. The iPod arrived back repaired a day after he made his comments. Since then she always sends cash in.
This time Zack had two things he wanted done. One replace the headphone jack because
he had hearing from just one side. The other was for me to run a data extraction so he could get a copy of the music on his iPod to add back to iTunes Library.
I ran a data extraction for him and was able to pull back 1585 data files/songs. I parked them back on his iPod/drive and then sent my instructions on how to add them to his iTunes Library.
The headphone jack part was $35 and the labor plus return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $75.

Travis Hopkins called me from Shoreline, Washington
The LCD had been smashed on his 5th Gen video iPod. We talked about the procedure and then I sent him a follow up message by email outlining how to send it in.
He actually sent it in with it insured and certified. However it arrived on a Saturday at a time when I wasn't here so the letter carrier hauled it back to their annex which is an hour away plus stand in line time. I was prepared to let it go back to Travis unpicked up, but he called to see how things were going. As a policy I won't spend time picking up packages sent this way that I have to go retrieve. In this I went and got it. His iPod was fixed and on its way the next day.
The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.
