Summer Alston called from here in Santa Rosa, California.
She works for the Sonoma County Probation Department and was having problems with her Nano 1st Generation. Standard problems... the scroll wheel on her White 2GB model stopped working. I've identified this as a standard flaw in the design of that iPod (along with two others).
Even with that problem I am able to run a data extraction on the white one and
then I added the music and the playlists to her 4GB Black one. I also parked a
copy of her music files on the iPod in a way that she could add them her new
iTunes Library and Libraries of any friends of hers.
The white one I couldn't make work, the fee there was $20 and the work on the
Black one was successful and the fee there was $40
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Betty Wong is a previous client who sends her iPods in from North Bergen, New Jersey.
She works in the registrars office at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston, New Jersey. She sent in three iPods. Two were 5th Gen video's and the last was a 6th Gen classic which had been hit with sea water when a big wave crested while they were at the shore.
This was a case of me trying to make as many of them work as possible.
One of the 5th Gen's had a logic board failure. This was one that I had replaced the
battery in earlier last year. Strangely the other video iPod had a failed battery.
Repairing the failed logic board one looked impractical so we used the good battery
from the failed logic board and moved it to the one in need of a battery.
The 6th Gen I took apart and found the sea water had taken the logic board's life
and needed to be replaced. I let Betty know and she used PayPal to send in the needed funds
When it was all done, the 6th Gen and one 5th Gen worked perfectly again.
The total cost was $200
Fixed - Total cost $200.

Mike Barnard emailed me from Fort Worth, Texas
to explain his iPod had become water immersed. I sent him instructions on how to send it in and the iPod arrived a few days later.
I was able to get all the parts of it to work except the hard drive. That replacement
part was $60 and the labor/return shipping was $40 so he was able to get
iPod back working for $100.
Fixed - Total cost $100.
