Jennie Snyder is the principal of the well regarded Morrice Shaefer elementary
school in Santa Rosa. She has a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop that had been troublesome.. chiefly because it uses Windows as an operating system and in her son's hands the thing was always having problems. Read that subject to malware and viruses being downloaded.
She tried to use the Dell restore disk to format the drive and put a new copy of the operating system on the drive. But Windows and Dell won't let you put a fresh copy of the OS on a drive partition that already has a running version of Windows on it.
Without really explaining what she been trying to do she emailed me to see if I did work of this sort and I do.
I charge $125 for any laptop project and that is inclusive of about anything or things you want to have done.
To put a fresh version of XP on her system I had to take the drive out and mount it in an adapter in a Macintosh so I could format it there as Mac HFS format, then take it out and put it back into her laptop so it would be un-recognizable and let me go through loading a completely fresh copy of the OS.
I also installed her copy of Office and all the needed drivers, then went onto use the internet to pull down interim Windows XP updates and a full copy of Service Pack 3 to bring the OS up to the moment.
The laptop works perfectly and have beautiful wireless connectivity (which was the reason she really needed it worked on.. something had hosed the internet connectivity on it).
Here is a happy school principal... and she said I've helped a few of the students at her which she saw on my web site.
Fixed - Total cost $125.

Mary Jennings called me from Covington, Washington.
She wasn't exactly sure what the problem with her 5th Gen video iPod but went onto tell me the symptoms and they were
un-mistakably her hard drive failing. I told it would be $60 for the drive and $40 labor and to send it in a padded mailer plastic bubble envelope along with a check for $100 to get it repaired.
It arrived on Thursday May 8th and I had the repair finished and on its way back to her on May 9th.
Fixed - Total cost $100.

Marc Inciardi sent in his white 5th Generation 30GB iPod from Leawood, Kansas
explaining that it had been exposed to water. I can't recall if it was left in the rain or put through the washing machine.
When it got here I dismantled, examined and process the corrosion and corroded aspects. I was able to get it all the parts to work except the hard drive.
The replacement drive was $60 and labor/return shipping for Marc was $40. He was able to get his iPod back and working for just $100
Fixed - Total cost $100.
