In the same package from San Jose, California, Dan Ratoff sent in a 5th Generation video iPod
that needed a new logic board. The problem was Dan had tried to replace the LCD himself and damaged beyond use the cinch locking lever that hold the ribbon connection contacts in place to receive power and data.
That logic board was $90 and labor/return shipping was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $130.

Dirk McFann of Ironton, Ohio dropped his 2nd Gen Nano in a swimming pool.
He found me on the internet and called to learn more about the chances of getting it fixed.
He plugged it into a wall adapter which I always discourage.
He sent it in from Ironton, Ohio and I got it a day later by UPS Red delivery.
After taking it apart I discovered huge amounts of corrosion inside. I didn't have much of a strong feeling I would be able to get it working again, and sure enough I wasn't.
I ultimately sent it back with a $20 refund. This was one I couldn't save.

Connie Garritson emailed me from work here in Santa Rosa, California
saying,
"I'm in Santa Rosa and I have a 30G ipod that is not working. The screen appears, but the computer (PC) won't recognize it when I plug it in. I took it to the Apple store in the mall, and they confirmed that, in fact, the computer won't recognize it. Do you think you might be able to fix it? "
In fact the iPod was her son's who had dropped it. The device had a slightly cracked LCD screen and a really damaged
hard drive. It was the drive I replaced. The drive was $60 and labor was $40 so her son got it back working perfectly
for $100
Fixed - Total cost $100.
