Carol Long brought her Red Blackberry Pearl (8110) to me after she dropped into a hot tub
(this is particular to California... I think). She lives in Windsor a little north of here. I spent several days with the device apart.
The 8110 has three soldered over metal caps that enclose the specific parts of the logic board. These caps have 2 small holes each which allow water in but make it really difficult to get back out again. When I took it apart last time it was try to deal with all the water aspects and I wasn't able to get to work afterward.
I tested a number of things against the known good version of another 8110 that was here (actually my brother's). The logic board was damaged by the water beyond repair.
Carol's I wasn't able to bring back to life. I refunded her $30 of the $60 she left with the phone.

Victoria Melling from Windsor, California
saw my sign out in front as she was driving past one day but didn't need help with her iPod at that time. Later on when she had a problem with her 5th Gen video iPod she remembered I existed and looked me up on the internet and gave me a call.
The problem she was needed corrected was hearing from the left side only. This is something I fix all the time and need the iPod for just an hour to repair. She came by late in an afternoon and picked it up the next afternoon.
The part was $28 and labor was $40
Fixed - Total cost $68.

Ken Bowers called from here in south Santa Rosa
about his 5th Generation video iPod. It had a problem and he had no idea what the caused it. He was getting the starry eyed sad face only. I told him to bring it by. He came by late that evening and left it along with the $40 labor fee I insist on before I'll start a project.
By the next morning I had determined he had a permanently failed hard drive and called him to tell him. He wanted it repaired and I had it done later that day for him.
The drive was $60 and labor was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $100.
