Debbie Roseman sent me her Nano 3rd Generation from Duluth, Georgia.
It had gone through the washer and the water damage was obvious. I've mentioned that I am able to fix Nano models in 7 out 8 water exposure instances. Out of those 7 I find that I have to replace the LCD in 3. The reason is positive backlight trace on it's ribbon connection has a charge to it whenever the battery is connected and that behavior makes it act as an anode and de-plates the that connection.
Debbie's arrived with that positive trace de-plated already. I was able to get her Nano working completely and perfectly again but it needed a new LCD.
The part was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.

I got an email Sandy Shore's daughter Misty Shore who lives here in Santa Rosa.
The message arrived on December 16 at 11:28pm and read,
"Frank,
I live in Santa Rosa not very far from you, have driven past your sign many times and now have a need to utilize your services.
About a month ago I washed and dried my 10 year old son's 3rd? generation ipod nano (It's the little square one with 4 gigs of memory). He loves his I pod and was very disappointed that he left it in his pants (and that I washed it). In any case, we did try to turn it on (I heard this is a no-no) and after leaving it in a cup or rice for a few days, we tried to charge it and turn it on again. It's still dead. When we last attempted to charge it, we heard an intermittent clicking sound. That is all I know at this point. I would like to drop it off on Friday if that works for you and hopefully get it back before Christmas if possible? When I drop it off, I assume that I leave it in the mailer as you said on your website with the work order paper and a check for $40? Just want to confirm.
Thanks for what you do, you are offering a great service.
Misty"
I emailed back to bring it in so I could try. I have been successful at 7 out of 8 Nano 3rd Gen iPods. Misty was very close to the conclusion of her pregnancy at the time. She had her baby on Friday December 19th and wasn't able to get it to me until Monday December 22nd. She brought it that Monday afternoon and I had it finished for her by noon the next day so it was ready for Christmas. James came by to pick it up.
It did need the LCD replaced. The part was $33 and labor was $40. Her son Cameron's Christmas was a bit better in 2008.
Fixed - Total cost $73.

Tim Leonard sent me his 5th Gen video iPod in from Napa to have the headphone jack replaced.
I've done for other of his iPods. He works at a winery and depends on his iPod everyday.
It arrived at 11am on Christmas eve, December 24th 2008. I had the repair finished and had it back in the mail to him by 3pm that same day. He got it back the day after Christmas and at 7:41 pm that night he sent this message,
"Hi Frank,
Thank you sooo much for the super fast service and quick turnaround on my 30 gig. I am truly lost without my ipod.
You're the best !!!
Tim"
The part was $28 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $68.
