Andrew Black called form San Francisco, California
about his 5th Generation video iPod that had suffered water exposure. As many of you know I am the "iPod dropped in water guy" globally and he felt kind of lucky to have me nearby. He sent it in with $40 and it arrived 2 days later.
There was so much wrong with his iPod.. it needed a logic board and had a dicey battery that we agreed to wave off repair have him get a new using my Where to Buy a NEW iPod CHEAPLY web page.
I offered to buy his remaining useful parts, which helped him afford the new iPod.
The total cost for Andy to know his iPod wasn't really worth fixing *and*
to find out where to get a replacement was $20.

Gustavo Calderon called on November 17th 2008, from here in Santa Rosa.
He has a 5th Generation video iPod that had hearing from just the left ear only because of it being dropped. While he had it here I also changed the battery so he was able to give it a good 11 hour charge again. He came by and left it off at 6:30pm and it was ready the next day at noon for him.
The battery was $19, the headphone jack hold/lock switch was $28 and labor was $40. For $87 he got back a perfectly working iPod again.
Fixed - Total cost $87.

Fixed - Total cost $68.
