Hillary Smith called and then came by from Cotati, California
which a few miles south of here. She has a 4th Generation 20Gb iPod that was misbehaving and wanted to know if I could make it work correctly again.
At first I thought it would be no real problem, but in her case her drive didn't work correctly and then while evaluating another drive for it I discovered her logic board had a data connectivity problem.
Those two errors if corrected would cost more to repair than her iPod would be worth fixed and I wasn't
able to get a drive to work of that vintage so I sent Hillary a $20 refund of the $40 she had paid the afternoon she came by.

Rey Arrieta sent in his iPod from San Antonio, Texas.
He had the common problem of having dropped his iPod with the earbuds plugged in and drove the plug far enough into the jack to snap off the right side positive connection leaving him with just left side earbud hearing.
I had it fixed and back on its way the next day.
The earphone jack was $35 and the labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $75.

David Wilson called from his work in San Francisco, California
to discuss his water immersed iPod. It's a Nano 1st generation with a well kept black plastic front that arrived a few days later. I was able to get it working but it required a new LCD (which is frequent, the LCD backlight has a ground lead that is always positively charged when the battery is charged and very subject to corrosion, eating away the back light trace on the ribbon connector).
The LCD was $21 and labor/return shipping was $40 for a $61 total.
Fixed - Total cost $61.
