Charles Garcia called me from Newark, California
about his 5th Gen video iPod. Like many other people he had dropped it and the screen was broken with a big "Bleed" in the middle of it. Even though he lives 80 miles away he wanted to bring it up to me in the North Bay Area so I could fix it while he waited.

He called before he left Newark and then again when he got to Novato just so I would be ready when he arrived. About 35 minutes later he was here and left the iPod off so I could replace the LCD.

An hour later it was ready for him. The LCD was $33 and labor was $40. As with so many other people that bring their iPods to me... he was basically amazed that I was "the real deal"... someone capable of actually repairing an iPod at all and then to do it quickly and cheaply. He thought it was very cool.

Fixed - Total cost $73.

Jason Danty lives here in Santa Rosa
and called me because he noticed the sign outside my home about iPod repair. His 5th Gen video iPod had a battery that wouldn't hold much of a charge at all... maybe 40 minutes. That was only part of it, his LCD screen had a small for quite a while that had become a 'bleed' that covered 40% of his screen and he couldn't see the menus to move around any more.

He came by and left it off at noon on January 5th 2009. I had the iPod ready for him at 1PM an hour later.

The LCD screen was $33, the battery was $19 and labor was $40. He uses his iPod mainly while he exercises and I was able to spend several minutes with him on how this was permanently damaging his hard drive and why the Nano was a better choice. He is also a runner so I showed him Nano and how I use it while running.

Fixed - Total cost $92.

Ingrid Zimmerman lives nearby... a bit south of here in a retirement community called Oakmont
which was built as a Planned Unit Development in the mid-1960's in the north Sonoma Valley. Her daughter Suzanne and I had been emailing the week before about Suzanne's 5th Generation video iPod that had hearing from... wait for it... just the left side. Strangely her cousin had the same problem and Suzanne emailed me about it.

"Hi.

I was referred to you by one of your clients, Liese Siegenthaler. I have the same problem that she's had: no sound coming from the earphones. I've checked them, and they're fine, so I'm guessing it's the part on the iPod itself that accepts the earphone jack. It started out with only one channel gone, but then I lost the other one as well.

I have someone who can drop my iPod off with you next week so I can avoid mailing.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing back.

Suzanne Zimmerman"

Ingrid dropped it off at 11am and came back to get it all repaired an hour later. The headphone jack module was $28 and labor was $40

Fixed - Total cost $68.
