Jacques Levy is a general contractor and called me from Sebastopol, California
about his 6th Generation video iPod. It was a type of call I've had once before. He had bought a new front faceplate on eBay because the faceplate on his 6th Gen had "a couple of scratches". Typically when someone calls and has a part for me to install it's the LCD that is broken below the face plate so I was a bit on guard already. When someone wants me to make changes to the face or back plate for cosmetic reasons, they are typically Obsessive Compulsive Disorder people. The level of perfection they fixate on is sometimes difficult to achieve.
In Jacque's case the problem is more complex because Apple made the 6th Gen impossible to break into
without leaving minor scratches at the edge of the face plate and potentially leaving a small ripple
where the backplate joins the faceplate. The backplate ripple may not necessarily occur, but it can
even though I've made some custom stainless steel tools for getting into the 6th Gen models.
I mentioned I could not guarantee the backplate would be perfect when finished and he commented that he
tried to find a new backplate to go with the faceplate but couldn't. At that I knew I was dealing with
someone that had a degree of perfection in mind that I couldn't live up to. I'm really good but there
is some work that is not worth pursuing, this was one and told him he needed to find another candidate

Joshua Duran called me from Bryan, Ohio
about his 5th Generation video iPod that had hearing from the left side only. I don't recall if he found me through the my website or merely called 411. I went through what I knew about the problem and followed up our phone conversation with an instructional email.
It arrived a few days later with $70 in cash to cover the $68 repair.
I had the repair finished and back on it's way to him the same day it arrived. I will probably get an email asking if it's arrived from him on the same day that arrives by mail to him.
Works like new
Fixed - Total cost $68.

Dorothy Guajardo is a previous customer.
I fixed her husband's iPod before. She emailed me from Petaluma, California about he son's iPod not turning on. I was a bit stumped, because she described it as, "it won't turn on".
Once it was here and I had it apart, I was able to determine the scroll wheel had failed. This is very rare, the application specific integrated circuit had failed on it and taken all scroll wheel control and compass point button control with it.
The replacement scroll wheel was $16 and it was also time for e new battery at $19.
Fixed - Total cost $75.
