Norm Karns sent in his 5th Gen video iPod from Irvine, California
explaining the battery wasn't holding a charge. The iPod was 3 years old and that is about as long as a battery in an iPod will last when you are not careful. I encourage everyone to read about this battery type in my battery overview page.
The battery replacement went smoothly and the iPod worked perfectly with all of it's files safe afterward. The battery was $19 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $59.

Pedro Guevera called me on a Thursday from Pittsburg, California
to discuss the problem he was having with his 4th Generation iPod. His call was the second in a row about scroll wheel failure in a 4th Gen. I gave him instruction on how he could reset the scroll wheel data port on his logic board. He tried that and didn't make a difference so he called to set up a repair. The iPod arrived a few days later and actually turned out to be a failed scroll wheel. Many times this problem can be solved by the data port reset or merely taking the iPod apart and cleaning the contacts involved, the ribbon connector and ribbon jack.
I replace the scroll wheel and the device worked again perfectly.
The part was $15 and labor/return shipping was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $55.

Ian is a previous customer. In the past he was in the Navy stationed in Kuwait
when his iPod was sent to me. This time he is living in San Francisco, California again, out of the Navy and works at new bar in town called Trigger. He isn't one to live long without his iPod so drove from San Francisco up to Santa Rosa to have me fix it while he waited... well had lunch nearby.
He need to have the headphone jack/hold lock switch replaced because he lost hearing in the right side from dropping it.
The part was $35 and labor was $40
Fixed - Total cost $75.
