Ray Jacques called from Bakersfield, California.
His Black 30GB Video iPod had multiple problems. He sent it in with a Money Order for $108 to cover the replacement of his headphone jack/wire harness and the cracked LCD.
I had the repair finished the same day it arrived and it was back the next day.
His black faceplate was fairly scratched so I replaced it at no charge with one in far better condition I had here from another project.
It was $35 for the headphone part, $33 for the LCd and $40 labor/return shipping.
Fixed - Total cost..$108.

Mary Pak noticed the San Francisco Bay Area Craigslist posting about my repair services.
She has a Black Nano 1st Generation that had been dropped in water and sent it in from South San Francisco with a check for $40
Her Nano had too much corrosion to be able to bring to life and I sent it back with a $20 refund.

Sean Miliano lives here in Santa Rosa
and also needed the battery in his 4th Gen replaced. This is a common, I can do-it-while-you-wait process here. In this case it became more complex because Sean attempted to replace the battery himself with one that he bought used on eBay.
You can't read this website too deeply without realizing I have a low regard for eBay as a venue to buy new iPods (Apple won't honor a warranty for iPods bought on the internet unless through their site), used iPods (They are continually misrepresented as "new' or "good" when they aren't. The seller merely hopes you are among the 50% of people that will hear them say, "It was good when I shipped it, it must have been damaged in transit. You can send it back for a refund" and don't ever get around to it. You have no relationship with the eBay seller other than being the 'deceived'.) or used iPod parts (for the same reason as used iPods).
In Sean's case he actually bought a "used" battery. If you've read my battery page,
http://www.isickbay.com/call--1-877-IPOD-PRO/battery/battery_replacement.shtml
I think you would come away with the understanding that a used battery can only be "no good". The lithium chemistry unbinds completely over 2 1/2 years time making the battery absolutely no good.
Sean brought his iPod to me and I replaced the battery. It would never have worked with a used battery in it. It works perfectly now.
The battery was $15 and labor was $40.
Fixed - Total cost..$55.
