Reese Kolar had a problem hearing in stereo from his 6th Generation Classic 80GB iPod
so called me from San Jose to discuss it. I went over the cause of the problem and what it would take to fix it and how long it would be out of his hands. When we got off the phone I sent a follow up email reviewing the what we had covered with exact instructions on how to send it in.
The iPod arrived 2 days later on a Saturday and I had it fixed by Sunday on the way back to him Monday morning.
The total time away for the iPod was 5 days because of the Sunday. The total cost to fix was $75. Works perfectly now.
Fixed - Total cost $75.

Tara Jenesse emailed me from Blue Springs, Missousri
one morning about her Nano 3rd Gen iPod. Like many emails I receive it was about water exposure and read,
"Hi,
I accidentally washed my son's ipod nano 3rd generation. We dried it out for a week and then tried to charge it. It works as long as its connected to the USB Charger, but as soon as we unplug it its dead so I am assuming it needs a new battery and it will be good. Do you agree? I saw you charge $20 if you can't resurrect it and $70 total to replace the battery.
He only got it for Christmas and uses it frequently so we are hoping to get it working soon without having to buy a new one.
Should I send it in?
Thanks,
Tara Jenesse"
I sent her back information on my current win/loss ratio on that model. In 7 out of 8 cases i am able to repair a Nano 3rd gen and included information on how to send it in.
It arrived a few days later and over a two day period I was able to get back working perfectly with no replacement parts being needed.
The total cost to get it back working perfectly was $40
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Ron Staples sent me his 6th Generation video iPod from Hampton, Virginia
with water problems. The accompanying letter read,
"I left it out over night during a light rain shower. I attempted to dry it out, but it still does not work."
I had it here in Intensive Care for 3 days and was able to get it working perfectly again. The battery had 2 of its five leads corroded away which are the ones responsible for the battery being re-charged so it had to be replaced.
The battery was $19 and labor/return shipping to Virginia was $40.
To get his iPod back working again was a $59 total.
Fixed - Total cost $59.
