Vanessa Guffe sent me her Black 30GB 5th Generation video iPod from Eugene Oregon with a check for $40 and the message,
"I dropped it in the toilet a few weeks ago. Hopefully this works,
Gratefully Yours
Van"
I took it apart, clean and processed it for corrosion and was able to get all working perfectly again. I did require a new LCD since the backlight wouldn't work. This is probably because the battery had a full charge when it hit the water which lead to additional corrosion on the LCD connection.
The LCD was $33 and after 3 years I recommended a new battery (it was time) which was $19
Total cost to get her toilet immersed iPod working again with a new battery was $92
Fixed - Total cost $92.

Jay Ziegenbein called me from Menifee, California
about what I think is his daughters iPod that he put through the washing machine. She has a 3rd Generation Nano which is really small and easy to overlook. He had waited it out a few days and noticed it was kind of working but the LCD backlight wouldn't light so he finally gave me a call.
He sent it and I was able to clean up the corrosion at the LCD jack and elsewhere. Also I did need to replace the LCd screen which was a $22 part.
But I got it all working with the files safe and the total cost was $62
Fixed - Total cost $62.

Bill Kutsche called me from his home in The Woodlands Texas one day to discuss his daughter Hannah's Green 3rd Gen Nano iPod.
Woodlands Texas one day to discuss his daughter Hannah's Green 3rd Gen Nano iPod. It had been left on a docking station outside during a fairly heavy rainstorm on the weekend of April 12th 2009. The iPod itself was vertical in the dock. Because of that it wasn't completely submersed but the docking connection on the bottom found itself in standing water and there was water visibly trapped between the LCD and the upper faceplate so it had a thorough drenching anyway.
I discussed what had to do about sending it to me and it arrived a few days later. This one I was able to get working again perfectly and completely again with no additional being needed.
The total cost to get Hannah's iPod working was $40 which included return shipping.
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Daniel Smerken is a previous client who lives in Olympia, Washington
In the past I've repaired his AT&T Tilt that needed a LCD screen, see this link .
This time he cracked the LCD screen in his 5th Gen video iPod and sent it down to me. This is a common repair for Me. It arrived on Thursday Afternoon and I had it finished, at the Post Office and on the way back to him the next morning. The total time out of his hand might have been 5 days.
The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.
