Stacy Fryer sent me an email in late March from McAlester, Oklahoma
about her son's iPod Touch 2nd Gen. The message read,

"My son dropped his IPOD touch 8G in the toilet. He put it in a bag of rice and left in the windowsill, but this did not fix the problem. May we mail it to you with payment for repair?"

I sent back to her instructions and she sent it in. I took it all apart and cleaned the corrosion from all of the parts but I wasn't able to get it to work again. The problem was some damage to the logic board.

Even though *all of the parts* seemed to work, the device would ask to be formatted and once formatted would ask again. The iTunes error specifically read, "The 'iPod' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1611)" The was failure in it's NAND Flash memory. I sent it back with a $30 refund.

Craig Douglas called me from Strongsville, Ohio about his 16GB iPod Touch 2nd gen
He had dropped it in a swimming pool for a few seconds. He tried a couple of different methods on his to bring it back to life and then got a hold of me.

I emailed back the 'send it in' instructions and it arrived a few days later.

I was able to get it working again completely but it required replacing the LCD. His, after the water incident, would only show a white screen with no "data painting" to it.

The replacement LCD was $43 and labor/return shipping was $60.

Works perfectly, notice the WiFi connection is working ;)

Fixed - Total cost $103.

Natica Drexler sent me her 2nd Gen iPod Touch from Louisville, Kentucky.
She had dropped it in the bath tub 5 weeks before it arrived. This is a bit longer than I am usually good at. Typically I am able to repair them well up to about 3 1/2 or 4 weeks.

I was able to get it all working again. It did require replacing the upper glass/digitizer which was a $53 part which she paid using PayPal.

Notice the WiFi connection is working perfectly. The part was $53 and labor/return shipping was $60

Fixed - Total cost $113.
