Okay... this one is different. It started with an email that read....
"Subject:Facebook Funeral for iTouch!
On Monday, I had a Facebook funeral for my beloved iTouch which I inadvertently murdered, or so I thought!
I was simply washing my hands and carelessly placed it on the sink and reached for a towel. A simple move, but when I turned around, my iTouch, was in the bottom of the sink in the water. Quickly!!!! I grabbed it and wrapped it in the towel, and then shook it for the water to come out. I turned it on, but the screen was white and blank and then shut off, which is when I thought it was dead and had gave up the ghost. Overnight, I stood it upright, so any water could come out and then yesterday, I placed it on the charger all day. Last night, I returned home and went to check on the victim, my Touch. At first, it looked like it was ok, had my main screen, BUT as I attempted to "slide to unlock", it would not slide. Now all I have is the remains of what was. SMH.... I have been looking for answers on the net and stumbled across your very informative site.
The Facebook funeral was a blast, everyone came on to give me their condolences on the loss of my beloved iTouch. Others, shared with me their own hard luck stories about their iPhones and iTouches (so I will be referring them to you).
I do not know what awaits me this evening. Will the "slide to unlock" work or will I be reaching out to you for assistance? We shall see tomorrow. In the meantime, what do you think the probability of it working tonight is and do you think I should place it back on the charger today?
I believe in the "resurrection" so maybe it will rise from the dead or you will be able to bring it back. :-)
Regards,
June Thompson"
June lives in Jersey City New Jersey (07310) I seriously thought her funeral was premature and said so. Then I followed with instructions to send it in. A week later it arrived.
It had been a few days since she sent it, but had been here just 1 day when I got a request for a prognosis. A prognosis before I'm finished with a device I stopped doing. The reason is I've had things near working and said so... only to find the project go south I was finally finished with it.
She hit me again a few days later, and I responded
"And now I have word... I hate delivering interim notices incase at the end something goes wrong.
I have Adam's iPod working again, His 67 songs, 26 videos, 13 photos and 22 apps are safely still on it.
The Wifi works perfectly.
I did have to replace the upper glass digitizer. That is a $39 part. I'll send a PayPal request for that, cover it and I'll have the iPod on the way late today of tomorrow.
I'll also send a separate request for $5 in case you want to have it sent back Priority Mail.
When you get the PayPal email, step through the set up process. It will take less than 20 seconds to create the account and pay the request."
She had referred to the Touch as her's but it was titled "Adam's".
After a week I was able to get it all working again perfectly and was able to retain all of her files. I did need to replace the upper glass/digitizer and that was a $39 part so ultimately the repair of her 16GB 3rd Gen Touch was $99
She got her iPod back on Good Friday and sent me this remark,
"> Received the Itouch. Thanks very much for your services.

I responded back with this,
"So the whole facebook funeral thing...... can you update with some remarks about my bringing it back to life?"
and got this back
"....and you know I did! LOL. For some, its Easter, so I posted that I believed in the Resurrection! and they agreed that it could not have happened at a better time and of course, I gave you props! You da man!
All the best,
June"
Fixed - Total cost $99.
