Brian Aicega emailed me one morning. He lives here in Santa Rosa California (95401).
He is a home loan consultant at the Patelco Credit Union. It's definitely been a challenging time for people in this industry but working at a credit union makes the process more personal and Brian has a good grip of the steps.
His daughter Katie stumbled while on crutches and landed on her iPod Touch smashing the upper glass / digitizer. They brought it by to be replaced and were able to get it ready and working perfectly again an hour later.
The part was $29 and labor was $60
Fixed - Total cost $99.

Lexy Hunter lives in Sebastopol California (94572). She had received her 16GB iPhone 3g
the day before and on the first day of ownership dropped the phone and broke the LCD. Strangely the upper glass was fine. She was crest fallen and brought it to me for repair.
An hour later I had analyzed the problem and made the replacement. The part was $30 and labor was $60.
Look at this photo of her. What a smile and expression of pure happiness.
Fixed - Total cost $90.

Randy Lashinski called me about noon on day. He lives in Windsor California (95492), and is a multi-preneur.
He has been involved in several medical start-ups that turn on stent research. he called about his wife's iPhone 3GS which she had dropped and he needed the upper glass replaced.
He's a busy guy so we arranged for me to have a complete display assembly ready to drop into the phone rather than him wait out the hour. This is always a possibility for anyone in a rush. I typically keep perfect "pre-repaired" display assemblies waiting so I can swap them for broken ones and let the client be on their way in a few minutes.
In Randy's case, afternoon time on that day was at a premium so I told him I had a way to do it within 15 minutes. He wondered if his wife would get back her 'phone' and I explained everything would be the same, the part that her finger touched and middle bezel/chassis would be changed. As I explained it you could see the light bulb go on and a smile came to his face... you see the mission was to repair the phone as quickly as possible and he git what i had in mind.
A few minutes later it was ready. The upper glass was $30 and labor was $60
Fixed - Total cost $90.
