Michael Evans emailed me from Prior Lake Minnesota (55372).
His message read,
"Hi Frank,
I came across your repair service on the web and thought I'd contact you. On Sunday night, I dropped my iPod Touch in the tub. It was only a few seconds before I yanked it out of the water, but I know that's all it takes. I put it into a bowl of rice right away (I'd heard that works) and let it sit for a few days. Last night (Wednesday), I hooked my iPod up to my computer and the low battery icon popped up. After a couple of minutes, the white apple popped up, too. However, all is not well b/c my ipod has a poltergeist now. The volume icon pops up as though it's trying to raise the volume, apps will open on their own, and I can no longer turn it on using the power button. Plus, the charge seems to deplete faster than before. Otherwise, it looks great (lol)! I'm guessing there's a short of some kind, probably some corrosion as well.
Do you think it can be repaired or is this a lost cause?
Michael"
I've encountered cases like this and emailed back telling him to send it in.
It arrived and I went through it. I was able to get it working faithfully again with working WiFi connectivity and didn't need to replace a thing.
Total cost was $60
I got this message back from afterward,
"Hi Frank,
Just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for resuscitating my iPod Touch. I really appreciate it.
Michael E."
Fixed - Total cost $60.
