Jimmy Mc Connell called me from Fayetteville Arkansas (72703) about his 5th Gen video iPod.
He goes to to the University of Arkansas. Jimmy has a 5th Gen video iPod that needed two things done, replace the battery and see if the iPod worked again "portably". Second, if it can be made to work then portably then the headphone jack needs to be replaced.
I was able to get the battery in and get it to work correctly, so then I went on to replace the headphone jack/hold-lock switch wire harness so he had stereo hearing with it again.
The jack was $28, the battery was $16 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $84.
