Doug Cover is also an award winning amateur wine maker who lives in Petaluma California (94953)
which means he exhibits passion in many things not just his work in the electronics field. His daughter Soren had her iPod Touch slip out of her back pocket while getting out of car... while the car door was closing. Yes, the iPod got slammed. Soren needed the Upper Glass/digitizer replaced and it turns out the headphone jack ribbon tore so that needed to be replaced. Since I was that far in it I replaced at no charge her dented back plate so it looked like it had never been near a car door. Total cost was $108
Fixed - Total cost $108.

Don Kyker lives in Corvalis Oregon (97330), and works for IBM there.
His daughter's brand new 5th Generation nano was out through.... here's the letter
"This New (as of last Christmas) iPod Nano was forgotten in a pair of jeans that went through the wash. Luckily the mistake was realized within 10 minutes, but that was still long enough to soak the unit."
I took it apart, and was able to get all aspects of it working again. Looks good, plays good.
Fixed - Total cost $40.

Dean Scofield lives in Wilson Wyoming (83014) and got a hold of me about his son Winston's new Nano 5th Gen.
After only a couple of weeks the Purple device found it's way into the washing machine. He called and we discussed my success rate and how to send it in.
It arrived a few days later. This was one of my longest cases. I arrived on December 26th 2009 and I kept working at it until January 24th 2010 nearly a month. I am very resistant to call a time of death on an iPod until I have tried everything. The problem with Winston's was the getting the battery to charge and the LCd backlight to come on. Ultimately I had to replace the LCD with a new one, but I got the battery to recharge.
The part was $33 and labor was just $40, but he got his $200 iPod back with all of his files still on it working perfectly.
Fixed - Total cost $73.
