Jeff Nicely is someone else that got a hold of me and then waited a long time before sending the iPod in.
He called me in mid-December about his 32GB 3rd Gen iPod Touch and then didn't mail it for a month. He lives in Montclair Virginia (22025) In matters like these things get dicey after 3 1/2 weeks. The story was as follows,
" It was on a picnic table when we got caught in a sudden deluge. It got wet before I could grab it, but I dried it off and thoguht it ws okay. However when I plugged it in later that evening it just fizzled. As per a friend's advice, I placed in a bag of rice for 4 days"
So a month alter I got it non-working. I took it part and went through it. I needed to manage three difficulties, the LCD had a failed backlight, the battery recharge wasn't occurring *and* the WiFi wasn't seeking and making a connection.
Over time I got each the problems solved but it did require replacing the LCD. The part was $43 and labor/return shipping was $60
Fixed - Total cost $103.

Bryan Clark emailed me. He lives in Sacramento California (94203) and works for CalFire,
the organization that puts out forest fires here in California. His message read,
"Good Morning,. Frank. I have a one year old ipod nano (I think 4th generation – the first to have video) It went through the wash. Immediately after I tried to turn it on and got nothing. About a week later, it turned on for about a minute and then the screen went blank. Is this worth sending into you? I also have a previous generation ipod in which the screen went blank. Not sure if it’s worth fixing due to it’s age, but would like to try as I can still use it for running."
That Nano is a great device to use for running. I use a Nano for that too.
He sent one of the two to me. His Black 8GB 4th Gen Nano arrived a couple of days later. Two days after it arrived I had it all working again. I let him know the result and got back this message from him.
"Wow!! Thank you so much. I had pretty much written it off and bought a new one…my girls will be very excited to inherit this one for their Sesamie Street episodes!!
Have a great day!!""
Fixed - Total cost $40.
