I got an email from Frank Bindreiter who lives in Uniontown Ohio (44685) about his daughter's iPod Nano.
It read,

"Hi Frank
,
My daughter's ipod Nano 8GB, bought this August, so what ever this generation is , went through the washing machine. How do I open it up to let it dry out and hopefully work again? I would appreciate any help and tips you could give.

Thanks, Frank Bindreiter"

I sent him information on how to send it in. That occurred on November 19th. The iPod finally arrived two months later on January 15th, 60 days later.

I went through it and was able to get it all working again. It needed the LCd to be replaced, because its backlight wouldn't come on. The part was $33 and labor/return shipping was $40 but he didn't spend $1570 buying a new one.

Fixed - Total cost $73.

Stephanie Morsch called me from Parker Colorado (80134) where she lives.
Her son Hayden's 8 GB iPod Touch 3rd Gen had been put through the washing machine. I chatted about the process of sending it in and it arrived a few days later.

The chief problem I had to manage was the iPod would not work portably. The battery wasn't holding a charge or the battery recharge circuits on the logic board weren't working correctly.

I had the device working properly in just a day and it didn't require any additional parts, (so we know the battery was good).

Total cost to get Hayden's Ipod back working again was $60

Fixed - Total cost $60.
