Kevin Bachus called me from Los Angeles one night.
He actually lives in Seattle but had dropped his iPhone 3GS in water a bit earlier in the night. He wanted to set up a repair but I had already ended work for the day so he sent an email. I got back to him the next morning.
The story of what happened is this,
"To reiterate what I told you over the phone, the phone sat in about 1-2" of plain water for less than a minute two nights ago and the battery was at about 30-35% capacity. The screen continued to display various messages off and on for about 30 minutes until it fizzled out."
He sent it in by FedEx the next day and I had it working again completely late the day it arrived to be expressed mailed back so it would arrive back working just 2 days after first spoke.
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Donna Charles called from Murrieta California (92563) looking to get her son's 2nd Gen iPod Touch repaired.
It had been dropped and had a seriously damaged upper glass that had actually broken through and enarly cracked the LCD screen.
I sent her instructions by email so they were there when she got home and received the Touch a few days later.
I replaced the upper glass/digitizer and had it back on the way to her the same day. Total cost was $89 including return shipping.
Fixed - Total cost $89.

Brian Moshenko called me from Laguna Niguel California (92677) about his 8GB 4th Gen Nano.
The scroll wheel on it stopped functioning in July which was 6 months earlier than the call. I sent him instructions to send it after I went over with him on the phone. It got here a few days later. The compass point buttons worked but the scroll wheel didn't. The Application Specific Integrated Circuit that controls the signal to the logic board had failed. I have heard enough reports of this problem, that I can pretty much state there is a defect rate much higher than it should be.
The scroll wheel is epoxied into the housing on this model so it means replacing the extruded aluminum housing *and* the scroll wheel assembly.
I had a matching part, made the replacement and the device was back on the way the next day.
The part was $35 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $75.
