I got an email from Rose Marie Tsosie from Kayenta, Arizona (86033)
about her son Mackenzie's iPod Touch 1st gen that read,
"Dear Mr. Walburg,
I found your website and wanted to know if it would be possible to repair my son's touch ipod. It was accidently washed in the washing machine late Friday night. It came on for a while early this morning and seemed to be working fine so we turned it off again, but when we tried to turn it back on later this afternoon it was unable to come back on.
Thank you,
Rose"
It arrived a few days later... I going to tell you this.... I have worked on "washing machine" mishaps... hundreds of them for years. Those all smell like Fabreze (or something like it) when I open them. This one smelled like... "cat spray" which means it was a toilet mishap not the washing machine. Honesty is always appreciated ;)
Also the level of corrosion inside was far more extensive than a washing machine trip. This looked as though it had a 'barnyard acid' exposure.
That aside, I went to work. It had a problem with the battery and battery charging circuits. Several hours later was able to get it all working again, including the WiFi connection.
On New Years Day I got this message back from her,
"Frank,
Happy New Year! Just wanted to let you know that I received the iPodtouch in the mail yesterday and also to thank you for the work that you have done on my son's ipodtouch. He is one happy little boy, that is his favorite entertainment that he takes with him everywhere. I am a skeptic when it comes to advertisements on the internet and normally do not respond to ads, but I figured I really didn't have anything to lose when I saw your website. My son's ipodtouch was still under warranty, but was told that if it was immersed in liquid they are unable to fix it. Having it fixed would have cost me $149. That's almost as much as purchasing a new one. Thanks again for your honesty and doing such an excellent job at restoring the ipod. I will definitely refer my family and friends to you if need be.
Thank you so much,
Rosemary"
The total cost to get the iPod back with all of the music photos and videos, working perfectly... $60
Fixed - Total cost $60.
