I got an email one morning... the first thing I do while I wait for coffee is
read and reply to email that came in over night. This message came in from Carolyn Nevin who lives in Oaklawn Illinois (60453) about two iPhones in her family that that had a mishap in a lake. The message read,
"Hello,
My name is Carolyn Nevin and this past July 4th weekend my brother and I dropped our iPhones in a lake. My friend Sam Manthei sent his phone to you and he spoke highly of your service and how you were able to fix his phone, which also had water damage. I live in Illinois so I will have to send it to you in the mail. It is $60 for a iPhone correct? Because I would have to send the two phones together, which would be a check for $120 and I do not want to write it unless I am positive. I also will be sending it to the address on the website. I am best reached through e-mail; however, my phone number is 708-xxx-3479 if you would like to talk about it.
Thank you,
Carolyn Nevin"
I stopped everything and called her.. two phones wit this problem needed to be spoken about to learn the details. While on the phone I sent a reply to her detailing the process to send them in while going over it verbally on the phone.
The phones were a Black 3G model and a White 16GB 3GS iPhone. The Black was pulled out almost immeidately. The White 3GS sat at the bottom of the lake for around 5 minutes while they kept diving down to find it. In fact there was silt on the docking port when it got here.
I was able to make both of them work again perfectly. including the WiFi, Bluetooth and they both had all of their files intact when I finished with them.
The 3GS needed to have it's LCD replaced and that was $65 part, so with labor it was a $125 repair.
The 3G I was able to make again perfectly and didn't need to replace anything, the total cost to get it back working again was $60
Fixed - Total cost $60.
