Sagar Patel called me from Hayward California (94544),
he waorks at his family's business "Sagar Exclusive" that has outlet in Hayward and Sunnyvale. The problem he was having with his 5th Gen video iPod was the tip of the earbud plug had separated leaving the tip inside the device. He made a attempts to fix it had yielded worse and worse results as the tip became driven further and then when used superglue to attach and remove it... finaly glued it in altogether.
He found me on the internet, called and I went through the send it in instructions. There was a chance I could fix it but mmore likely considering what had gone on, I'd have to replace it.
When it got here, I was able to drive the tip back out, but the superglue (cyanocrylate) had trashed the jack and I had to repalce that part. That was a $28 part and while it was here, I suggested the battery get replaced too. That was $10.
So for $78 which included labor and shipping back he got his iPod back working perfectly again.
Fixed - Total cost $78.

Mary Anne VeldKamp lives and works here in Santa Rosa (95404) in the real Estate industry.
She lists and sells estate homes at Coldwell Banker (Notice that industry has consolidated in the past 30 years. When I was young every Realty was local and then starting with ReMax the industry changed.)
Her father had called about 32GB 3rd Gen iPod Touch. While out in the garden he had it in his pocket and was listening to it. Without realizing it a sprinkler had saturated through his pants pocket and allowed water inthrough the docking port.
A bit of time had gone by but he found me and called. He brought the iPod to her and she brought it in to me. I had it here a day and was able to get all the aspects of it working again perfectly including the WiFi. I did have to replace the LCD screen because the backlight in the original wouldn't come on. That was a $43 part, so for $103 he got his $370 iPod back working perfectly again.
Fixed - Total cost $103.
