Lisa Adkins lives in Newburgh Indiana (47630).
We spoke about her 160GB 6th Generation video iPod also called a Classic. It had been dropped in a swimming pool and then left there for many seconds while figuring out how to get it back out of the water.
She sent it with $40. This was a case that took extra time, about 10 days. But I was able to get everything working in it again except the LCD Backlight. Fortunately there was no damage to the LCD connection at the logic board so merely replacing the LCD mad e the difference.
The part was $33 and labor return shippig was $40 When she got it I got this message:
"Hi Frank,
Got it in the mail today...yeah!!! It works wonderfully and I'm thrilled that I got it back. It's working great...thanks again!
Lisa"
Fixed - Total cost $60.

Duncan Anderson sent me his 16GB Nano 5th Gen from Saint Paul Minnesota (55108)
with a letter that read:
"I jumped into a swimming pool a couple of times with my iPod in my pocket. I attempted to dry it off as much as I could with a towel and rags."
His model is one that I can make work typically 7 out of 8 times. Of the 7 times I can, make it work again, three need to have the LCD replaced because the backlight connections get destroyed by corrosion.
His was on of those 3 times in 7. I was able to get it all working again, but the backlight wouldn't power up because the ribbon connection trace had corroded away.
The replacement part was $30 and labor/return shipping was $40
Fixed - Total cost $70.
