Bill Thorne lives in Windsor California (95419) and works tech in the mortgage field supporting Windows server 2003 and a number of windows clients.
His iPad 2 got dropped and had a smashed upper glass before he brought it to me. Many people don't realize that the screen or glass on an iPad is both the touch interface for the device and a membrane to keep dirt and moisture out of the device.
Once the screen is smashed you loose the 'membrane' aspect and then any spilt drink will actually destroy the device as it drifts down.
I had his iPad for 2 hours and made it look and work like new again. Total cost was $108
Leslie Burma lives in Napa and has been a client for a number of years. She has a business called Valley Girl Tours and drives vacationing wine tasters on tours of wineries in Napa. She sent me an email one morning that read,
"Hi! It's been awhile! My ipad2 has a cracked screen. Are you available Thursday to drop it off and pick it up repaired?"
I sent back the relevant information and she showed up at 8:30am on Thursday morning.
I had her White iPad 2 here for 2 hours while she left her car at the local Mercedes dealer to get the traction control for her steering repaired.
I'm not sure how it happened but she managed to damage the top left and right corners and the bottom left corner... as though the iPad cartwheeled across concrete. That pushed the corners in and up a bit. The way I deal with the problem of "new glass not fitting because backplate has new shape" is to use a small grinder and grind away the aluminum that keeps the glass from laying flat. There are three detail shots of what that looks like. The cut away metal is nearly insignificant.
Total cost for her "new" iPad? $108
