I first heard from Monique Boucher in November 2009 when she was having a problem with her video iPod.
I don't remember if she dropped it in water or merely needed a battery.
She lives in Windsor California and this time she had dropped iPhone 4s in water. The event had occurred about two weeks earlier and frankly she had replaced the phone already, but wanted to see if this one could be made to work as backup if needed again.
Monique works for Dewitt Jones, who was a noted photographer but in recent years has been giving lectures on photography and perfecting techniques to use the iPhone camera to take art photography shots.
She brought it down and left it with $60 with me telling her I'd get back to her in the morning with the result.
I was able to get all aspects of the phone working perfectly again, including the WiFi *and* all of her photos.
Total cost to get the 4S which cost $650 back working beautifully again? $60
Phillipe Hobson lives here in Santa Rosa California (95403) and drives by my place all the time.
One afternoon he stopped and brought my his son's iPod Touch 4th Gen for repair. He works at Edward Jones over seeing money in some form.....
We had a interesting discussion about whether the economy will tank again by mid-year. I think it will because EU difficulties re-presenting themselves again.... meaning Greece and Spain will likely bring things down, real estate is not lifting off as it should and the economic castration by politicians... ooops I mean "sequestration" will play in this. We made a bet of a cup of coffee at Peets (three blocks away). We compare notes on this in June or July.
He got here at 4:30 on a Tuesday and I had it finished by 6pm but we had arranged for him to come by at 4:08pm the next day and he was right on time ;)
Total cost for the repair was $79
