I got an email from Ron Cottle in Alexandria, Virginia
that read, "Hey Frank,
I would like to send my iPod to you for repair. I have the packing
material needed. I recently sent it to Apple and they returned it stating
"water damage will not fix". I am sure the cause of the problem is sweat
in the device. Please let me know if this is the correct address to send
it to. We will make a PayPal payment
Thanks"
His 3rd Gen Nano arrived a few days later. I was able to get it all
working but it needed a new LCD (common for water exposure and the Nano 3rd Gen).
The LCD was $33 and labor/return shipping $40
Fixed - Total cost $73.

Freddie Major called first then sent his iPod in from Laurel, Maryland.
Like many other of my clients his 5th Gen White 60GB iPod suffered water exposure and wouldn't start up anymore.
When it got here I was ultimately able to get it all working. Since his iPod was one of the earliest models of the video iPod made and the battery was over 2 years old, it was time to replace it.
I got his iPod working perfectly, with a new battery ($23) for a total of $66.
Fixed - Total cost $66.

Kathy Vaccaro sent me an email o Sunday July 27th 2008 from Reading, Massachusetts
revealing the problem she was having with her Nano 3rd Gen.
"Hi,
My daughter's ipod nano purchased last Christmas went through a hot cycle in our washing machine yesterday, with our sheets. We left it near a dehumidifier for several hours - it was warm, maybe from being also in the laundry room - and maybe this is a bad thing? But does not still turn on. The music is not irreplaceable, but I would like to get it working again.
Should I try a hair dryer, or leaving it to dry for a few more days? Or is time of the essence?
I am impressed with the testimonials on your website, and would like to know if you think you could get it working again. We live in Massachusetts.
Thanks,
Kathy Vaccaro"
It arrived on the 29th and by the morning of the 31st I had it working again except for the LCD I couldn't get the back light to work.
She sent the $33 for the LCD in using PayPal. The iPod was on the way back to her the next morning.
It was $33 for the LCd and $40 for the labor/return shipping.
Fixed - Total cost $75.
