Maria Kemp found my web site
and noticed the extensive work I do with iPods that have been immersed in water, coffee, hot tubs, bath tubs, soup and about every other fluid. She called me from Asheboro, North Carolina to discuss her son Sam's silver Nano 3rd Gen that had a water mishap.

I answered her questions and it arrived dead a few days later, July 31st 2008 with a check for $40 and a prayer.

By that afternoon I had it working again, all of it. This was a case when I didn't need to replace the LCD.

It now works perfectly,

Fixed - Total cost $40.

Gina Chandler emailed me from San Antonio, Texas
her message read, " just tried to call you from San Antonio Texas. I didn't think about the time difference until you did not answer. I have a dilemma... last night I dropped my daughters ipod (it looks just like the blue one on your web page) into a glass of chardonnay and it will not turn back on. I tried blow drying with cool air and no luck. We were just this week talking about a new one but I reminded her that she has spent so much money downloading songs and I really can't afford a new one. Can you help fix it and restore her songs?? Please reply. I will try to call you at a more decent hour or you can call me."

She left her number in the message and I actually called her a moment or two after the message arrived.

The iPod arrived a couple of days after we finished on the phone. Ultimately I was able to get it to work again. It needed a new LCD because the original one had Char trapped between the layers.

I wasn't able to get the songs back because the device arrived in an erased state having been 'restored' just before shipment.

The LCD was $27 and labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $67.

Larry Tuteur lives in Santa Rosa, California
and brought his wife Beverly's iPod in. It is a 5th Gen video iPod and he was having problems with data connectivity to it. A part of the problems I traced to his Belkin car adapter. He noticed that he had mis-seated his docking port connection and sliding the plug into it was difficult.

I found I could get good data connectivity through the docking port, and ultimately I had him bring his old docking cable in so I could throw it out and gave him two new ones.

Instead of using the Belkin adapter again, he is getting a Kennsington MicroFM transmitter so he doesn't have to over-charge his battery while in the car.

Finally I replaced the battery in his iPod. He had done this once before himself and re-assembled things poorly. I cleaned up his work and it works perfectly now.

The battery was $23 and labor was $40

Fixed - Total cost $63.
