Rebecca Silaris lives here in Santa Rosa, California.
She was having a problem with her iPods ability to hold a charge and called me to discuss it. After just a moment I realized her battery had been the victim of continually over charging which she confirmed.

She brought it in and I replaced it. Works fine now.

The battery was $23 and labor was $40.

Fixed - Total cost $63.

Jeff Wiley called from ,.
He had found my site using Google and thought I would the answer to his problems.

His Green Mini from 2005 had a failing battery that he had decided to replace. He got the battery but then was stymied at taking the iPod apart and replacing the battery so he called me to check and see that I was willing to do this with his battery.

I told him me the Mini along with his new battery and would do the install and send it back for $40

It got here on August 6th 2008, was finished and sent back the next day.

Fixed - Total cost $40.

Leroi Boldon called from San Jose California
to talk about his son's iPod who is in the US Army and serving in Iraq. I always wonder how our youth gets talked into military service. Gwynne Dyer a noted military historian in his 1985 book "War" discusses that it's far simpler to make an 18 year think he (or she) is going to serve and fight for a noble cause. It's easier to present that nobility to a young mind rather than something closer to the truth, which is really protecting the status quo back home and the entities that own the majority of tangible possessions which are really need an army to protect their property, place and position. When you get older it's easier to see the truth for what it is. Most people past their mid twenties have more seen through things.

Leroi's son has a 6th Generation video iPod that had the screen broken while in conflict overseas. He sent it back to get Dad to do something about it. At first Leroi brought it to an Apple store, they explained anything that cracks the LCD screen constitutes abuse of the product and voids the warranty. They gave him the choice of repairing it through them (where they would hand a 'pre-repaired' iPod with a blank drive) or trading it in for 10% off a new one (or $25).

Those options cost $200 and $225 respectively and he decided to find a serious alternative to what appeared to be customer manipulation. Using the internet he found me and was prepared to drive from San Jose to have me do the job for him. I mentioned this was a 2 hour + drive each way potentially with commute traffic and if he sent it the total round trip would be less then 4 days... him to me and back to him fixed.

That worked for him and it arrived a couple of days later on August 6th 2008. I repaired it that day and sent it back on the morning of the 7th.

The LCD was $41 and labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost $81.
