Jeff Grayum goes to college at Humboldt State University in Humboldt, California.
He dropped his 5th Generation video iPod with the plug to his headphones (not earbuds, headphones) in the earbuds jack and destroyed the right side hearing positive connection in the jack.
This is fairly common. If you are hearing from the left side only, it's from that type of event only.
He sent it along with a check for $75 which was $35 for the part and $40 labor/return
shipping.
Fixed - Total cost $75.

David Barnby is from Britain and called me from the San Jose, California
where he was visiting friends of his in the US. His 3rd Gen iPod was having a very short battery life and needed to be replaced.
We worked out an arrangement where he would send his iPod to me and I would ship it back to the next destination on his trip.
It arrived a couple of days later and he PayPal'd in the funds.
The battery was $16 and and labor/shipping to his next stop was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $56.

Corinne Bletz emailed me
"Hello. About a week ago, my poor little ipod nano (3rd gen) went for a swim in the washer. Now, it's battery won't hold a charge. And, the backlight will not work AT ALL. And now, i want it fixed. So, i was wondering how much would such a repair cost?"
Ultimately she sent it in from Columbia, Pensylvania after we spoke on the phone to go over things. The LCD in her Nano had already failed so she sent in $73 to cover the $33 LCD and the $40 labor/return shipping.
I was able to get her iPod working again completely once I changed the LCD. Notice we have a good screen and battery charge.
It was $73 to get it running perfectly again.
Fixed - Total cost $73.
