Matthew Foster emailed from Barnardsville, North Carolina
saying "It was dropped into a pool last Saturday and has not worked since. Before then it was fine. I would like to send it to you to inspect."
It arrived several days later and Matt used PayPal to send in $40 to cover the labor cost.
When it arrived I was able to get all the parts of it to work except the LCD. I was not able to get the backlight to come on even though the screen would present or "paint" the data.
With a new LCd the iPod worked perfectly. The battery holds a charge and can be re-charged. There is data connectivity through the USB post and the USB power in works.
All the songs and files are still on it. It was $33 for the LCd and $40 labor for a
total cost is $73 including return shipping.
Fixed - Total cost $73.

Mike Blanchard sent another iPod in from Vallejo, California.
This time it's a U2 model 4th Generation iPod that needs a new battery.
With a new battery all was well with it.
The battery was $15 and the labor/return shipping was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $55.

Bill West sent me an email from McCall, Idaho
to confirm his diagnosis and the price for replacing the scroll wheel on his 4th Gen iPod.
I sent back a message affirming things and he sent it in with a check for $60 and instructions to check the rest of it out.
After 3 years it needed a new battery and he Paypal'd in the $15 for it.
Once installed with another scroll wheel and battery everything about worked perfectly.
Fixed - Total cost $75.
