Terrence Hillery's mom called from Akron, Ohio
to discuss his Silver 3rd Gen Nano which had suffered water exposure. They sent it in with a check for $40
I believe the exposure happened well, well before she called and Terrence was someone that thought he dodged a bullet when stuck the iPod in a bag of rice as a desiccant. At first it seemed to have worked, but rice doesn't mitigate on going corrosion and doesn't evacuate the moisture from the sealed iPod compartment. It's utility is a myth that some people have experienced some very random good luck at in cases that had minimal non-invasive water exposure. In the main, the "fooling around with rice" time is the critical period when an iPod is most likely to be brought back to life for real.
Finally his display went out and he knew he had the problem still. That's when it was sent to me. I was not able to get his LCD connection to work again *even* with a new LCD that I knew worked. That LCD connection was damaged permanently.
I couldn't get it to work and had to send it back with a $20
These are detail shots of it's problems

Tomme Saltvick reached me by email on Wednesday July 23rd 2008
saying, "I'm in Santa Rosa and found your site via Google. My nephew, who is visiting from out-of-state, as a 30G video iPod. Apparently something is wrong with the earbud plug as he can only hear out of one earbud.
I'd like to make arrangements to drop the iPod off for repair, and need an indication of how long you expect the repair to take."
I called her *and* emailed her back about the problem and she brought it by at 10:45 that morning.
I had the repair finished for her at noon that day a little over an hour later.
She liked the work. It was $35 for the headphone jack hold/lock switch wire harness
and $40 labor.
Fixed - Total cost $75.

Amy Mitchell emailed me from Plano, Texas
about her iPod which found its way into a swimming pool and didn't know how to swim.
She sent it in with a check for $40 and it arrived a few days later.
I was able to get the iPod to work perfectly after tearing it all apart and dealing with the water based corrosion.
Works perfectly and all of her files are intact. Total cost $40
Fixed - Total cost $40.
